WSOP regulars shine with cheers from All-American Dave

Swanson started serving food outside the in 2013. As a personal trainer, he provides nutritionally balanced meal options to long-term WSOP poker players. The food truck quickly became popular with pros looking to replace Rio's fast-food restaurant.

Over the course of seven years, the business grew, and in addition to serving food from trucks parked outside the Rio hotel, Swanson also offered tableside food delivery. Professionals have come to rely on All American Dave for their WSOP game energy.

Thank you for making the WSOP a better experience for me and many others.

People (even WSOP poker players) have a hard time understanding what it's like to run a laggard business, take on debt, and wait for the circumstances to change.

Can't imagine how WSOP news feels

-Phil Galfond

When the 2020 WSOP was moved online due to , business started to veer off course. With no one serving, Swanson is stuck and hopes things change in 2021.

Unfortunately for him, things haven't changed enough. Last year's WSOP was plagued by COVID restrictions, and Swanson was banned from placing his food cart on site. In his words, the business caused “significant losses.”

Changes cause Swanson to fail

After the WSOP moved from Rio to Horseshoe (formerly Bally's), the wheels finally fell. The new management doesn't want All American Dave or any other outside company to provide food to players at the poker table. Swanson called for concessions from anyone with influence, but no one was willing.

Swanson has closed the business due to looming debt at the WSOP last year and the logistical cost of running his food truck this summer. In tweets thanking Swanson for his services, some pros asked what would happen to the money in their accounts.

I am dismayed and regretful to hear this news.

I hate to ask this question at such a difficult time, but I do wonder what will happen to those of us who are carrying over from the 2021 WSOP?

– Matt Vaughan

This legitimate question received a pointed response from some.

Asking what happens to the carryover money when this hardworking housewife has just poured his heart out into society is as tasteless as an Esfandiari chicken. There's some strategy, man , ” replied producer and WPT champion Matt Salsberg.

Swanson confirmed that he would be happy to discuss a “fair resolution” with affected players if he can avoid filing for bankruptcy. If he can't, the outstanding credit will be paid based on the funds he can get from selling the assets.

Where to eat at this year's WSOP

With All American Dave out of the WSOP, poker players will now consider their choice of food at the WSOP's host venue, the Horseshoe and Paris.

Horseshoe has Nosh Deli, which offers “food on the go”. It opens at 6am but closes at 4pm. What's more, it's closed from Monday to Wednesday. This means the food court will be the default choice for many players at Horseshoe Stadium.

Dine at the Horseshoe Food Court

Horseshoe's food court is open 24 hours a day and offers a variety of fast food options from the following eateries.

★Nathan's famous hot dog

★Pan Asian fast food

★Sbarro (Italian food)

★Johnny Rockets (American food)

Anyone playing in Paris will have more food options. Here are 14 places to eat, including fine dining, casual dining and fast food. Some of the best options for WSOP players looking to eat during their breaks are.

☆JJ's Boulangerie (French themed cafe)

☆ Brioche by Guy Savoy (savory bread and other French dishes by Michelin-starred chef Guy Savoy)

☆Bobby's Burgers

The demise of All American Dave means that WSOP regulars have to consider not only the cards they play, but also their food choices. In fact, many people pay a premium for Swanson's service so they don't have to think about what they're going to eat.

Without this luxury, poker players now need another option. Horseshoe and Paris have mixed food courts, but whether it suits everyone's taste is another matter
