Ruth Hall Takes Second Ladies Poker Tournament LIPS Championship The 2022 Nevada Ladies Poker Championships run by the Ladies International Series of Poker (LIPS) April 19-24 at South Point Casino in Las Vegas . Poker Hall of Famer Linda Johnson and Women's Poker Hall of Famer Jan Fisher hosted the nine-event series, which culminated in the 550 buy-in Nevada State Championship.
The event drew 157 entrants and generated $78,500 in prize money, beating the $50,000 guarantee. The winner was a familiar face – Ruth Hall, who took home the $18,537 jackpot and earned $370,000 in her lifetime tournament earnings, according to Hendon Mob. In 2020, Hall was named the Women's Poker Association (WPA) Player of the Year.
This marks the second time that Hall has received this prestigious title. Previously, she beat 294 entrants to the 2019 $300 Tournament at the Orleans Casino. That win earned $14,614. She also finished seventh out of 317 entrants for $2,980 in the 2021 competition.
The win was especially sweet for Hall, who has been dealing with some serious health issues, notably Meniere's disease. Attacks have forced her out of tournaments in the past but still have a healthy scoreboard, and that was when she was still able to play. Fortunately, the support of family and friends, who took the initiative to help him with his travel and accommodation issues, gave her opportunities and new motivation.
“It's hard to beat someone who never gives up, which is why I was able to come back and win,” the two-time breast cancer survivor told reporters. “I went from thinking I wanted to get the bare minimum with 23 ladies left, to killing six players at the final table. I'll never give up on poker, and I'll never give up on my life After struggling to survive, it feels good to win this championship again!”
